One last mention about my birthday... Last night my wonderful friend Wendy hosted a beautiful dinner party for me and Vanessa. Thank you to everyone who braved the rain to make it out to celebrate. I have the most generous, beautiful, funny and talented friends- I love all of you.

little project

Most of you know we moved last summer to a "charming" (aka very small and old) farm house. For the last eight months I have been struggling with it's quirky upstairs layout so I finally took the advice of my friend Jenny and bunked up my girls to allow room for a dressing room/ office for Mike and myself. I have been moving everyone and their belongings for the past week, totally unsettling at the time but I finally feel as if it is all falling into place. Another lesson learned. Things take time. My inspiration comes from this story featured in Vogue a few years ago on Tory Burch via Habitually Chic.

No picture tonight, simply words. I'd like to thank my husband for being the cutest, most loving husband alive. He gets me in every sense. Today it is my birthday, 35 to be exact. He treated me to a night of fantastic food complete with a beautiful glow of orange light and soft jazz, a glass of champagne to toast our time together and delicious dishes that satisfied us both. As if that wasn't enough, we headed toward the Wachovia Center for John Mayer- real, decent, touching lyrics. Mike sang along, smiling at my enthusiasm and honest joy. It was one of the happiest of times, leaving all the humdrum of daily life behind. We stood as long as we could smelling the passing scent of youth, a mix of mint gum and alcohol, a hint of a cigarette and fruity perfume. Great music and good times. We ran into our dear friends which made it even better but made me long for more, like those who would appreciate this snap of time. I miss you Billy and Rebecca Crawford. Happy Birthday to me..... I love you Mike McGinn. xxoo

When Tada editors Holly and Hadley called and asked for an image of an orange and pink cake I thought why not make one! Here is my creation, not perfect but neither am I. The kids took over once the shot was taken having a blast decorating it. Here we sit in yet another snow storm, I think we will bake a bit more today. What are you doing this blizzard???

I'm Back

Sorry for the lack of postings everyone. I am afraid I have fallen back into my old habbits...getting side tracked, losing focus...time to move forward though! I received the little push I needed today from my friend Dinah. She also sent along this adorable house that her friend in Marin County, California is selling.
